Vegan Ranch ingredients arranged into the shape of a heart

They say that the way to a person’s heart is through that person’s stomach (actually that’s not quite how “they” say it, but I’m not going to gender it). That’s probably why everyone wants to get their loved ones sweet things for Valentine’s Day. Well, I’m not going to do it. Been there, done that, and you don’t need another blog post on candy this time of year.

I’m talking about ranch!

Non-vegan ranch dressing’s base consists of buttermilk and sour cream. I guess you can find vegan versions of those things, but my go to here is vegan mayo. Why? Because it’s the best.

There are a whole bunch of vegan mayo brands out there nowadays, and with the magic of aquafaba, you can even make your own! My mayo of choice is Follow Your Heart’s Vegenaise. It was one of the first veeg mayos out there and in my personal opinion tastes the best, but, and perhaps more importantly, the company has stayed committed to not selling out to a big food conglomerate. But I promise it will work with any vegan mayo; just keep trying them out until you find a flavor and consistency that works for you. Promise me, though, that you won’t get Hellman’s because that whole lawsuit they pulled with Just Mayo was bogus. Aldi had a budget brand mayo for a minute, Burman’s Eggless, which was clearly a Hampton Creek Just Mayo (now simply “Just” as a result of the FDA saying the name mayo and egg-like image were misleading consumers) knock-off, but I haven’t seen any in about a year. If you happen to spot some, let me know!

Anyway, back to the matter at hand: the making and consumption of vegan ranch. All you need to do is be good at chopping, measuring and stirring for this one. If you feel like your dressing more of a dip and want to thin it out a little, you can add water or salad oil one tsp at a time to thin it out.
